A
restored 1870s doctor's home and practice at 177 West Hill Street in
Wabash, Indiana--is open to the public. The home opened for the
first time during Wabash's celebration of the 125th Anniversary of
becoming the First Electrically Lighted City in the World, March
31-April 2, 2005. We received more than 600 visitors from Wabash
County, Indiana, and afar during these three days.
The interior of the Historic Home is now open for visitors every
Saturday and Sunday from 1pm-5pm. The cost of admission is $3 for
adults and $2 for 15 and under. We are happy to receive group visits
at other times by appointment. Appointments may be made by calling
(260) 563-8686.
Work on the gardens--including grape arbors, a small orchard, and
other period plantings inspired by Dr. Ford's letters and
horticulture newspaper columns--continues, and the entire property
will be ready for visitors in early summer.
